Obviously surfing is the biggest sport in my life which I learned when I was 8 years old. I have also done my fair share of martial arts being brown belt in Judo and doing Muay Thai for 2 years. Usually I take my surfboard with me, I love trying new waves it’s a great passion of mine. Learning about the culture of the countries I visit and experiencing it first hand is what motivates me the most. I’ve been all over Europe, from the southern countries like Portugal and Italy to the northern ones like Norway and Finland. I have been to every country in North America, including Alaska. Most recently I went on a surf trip to Mexico. I fell in love with this stretch of coastline, where more uncrowded waves broke. Although, most surfers hate it because of it’s strong winds and difficult conditions, I felt very comfortable there. With this comfort along with the help my coaches Gary and Bentor Gonzalez, I was able to push my surfing in every session. Training in this ruthless conditions made me become a more complete surfer, being able to perform in any kind of surf. I believe that it has specially benefited my read of the waves and creativity. In 2018 I started seeing some results, a couple of third and second place finishes, I became more mature and started focusing a bit more in strategy, this was also the year where I competed for the first time at a national level. However in 2019 everything clicked, I competed in a QS event for the first time, the experience I gained there helped achieve a First place in an under 18 Canary Island competition as well as a First place in the Open category from the same event. After that I joined the University of San Diego A team and currently compete in the US College NSSA. So far in 2022 I have competed in two Canary Islands’ events, getting Second place in under 21 and Fourth in Open division, in two QS events in Northern Spain and France and an NSSA college event at Blacks Beach, San Diego. Most of my classes were taught in English, this made us students fluent in the language. I got all my IGCSEs and A Levels at this institution, including subjects like Business, Computer Science and first language French. I was fortunate enough to learn French for 7 years at the school, which would convince me to pursue another semester of it in university. I also decided to learn Portuguese in my free time because I used to travel so much to the country for surf trips, and I found the language very attractive. Most of my courses are very practical and are giving me a real world view for any future careers. Firstly, working face to face with clients in the reception, making use of my language skills. I learned how different departments of a hotel chain work, from maintenance, dining and cleaning services, and their budget allocation. I was taken to the accounting department to understand how it functions and helping with finances and cash flow. I made use of platforms like Booking and the chain’s own web-page to promote the rooms and managing it constantly so there is no overbooking. Finally, I attended the purchase of a Hotel and saw how it got conditioned to fit the chain’s theme. I also have experience with Social Media and advertising. I worked in a group to make apparel designs that we would after promote on Instagram using Facebook Ad Manager, I created ads, chose the target audience, analyzed their performance and even did A and B tests. Apart from Social Media Marketing, making Google Paid advertisements is another thing I’ve learned, from different kinds of Keywords to designing appropriate descriptions and obviously managing the budget and looking at ratios.
